The Walk Score
There is a score for everything it seems. If a restaurant passes inspection it gets an “A” in the window and if the patrons like the meals it serves, they will line around the block and maybe flood the “thumbs up” on Yelp or Open Table or like its FB page and on and on. The grading system now applies to how close your condo or house is from your favorite eatery, park, Starbucks, or Mall. Let’s face it, some of us are tired of driving and paying to park, only to walk some more just to get somewhere.
Enter the “walk score”. According to RedFin, the walks score is a number from o to 100 which measures how “walkable” one is from any address. The ideal score ranges from 90-100 and would mean that daily errands do not require a car; 70-89 is defined as Very Walkable and means most errands can be done on foot; the lowest car-dependent range, 0-24, means that almost all errands would require a car.
So, in addition to location, location, location, the price and the condition of the home and amenities, the walk score is yet another selling point that could work in your favor. Use this to your advantage and score!
